"Este retrato forma parte de la denominada "Galería de Celebridades Vizcainas", una colección originalmente integrada por 239 retratos al óleo de personajes famosos y notables, destacados en muy diversos campos de la actividad y la vida cotidiana de los últimos años del siglo XIX y la primera mitad del siglo XX en Bizkaia y, muy particularmente, en la Villa de Bilbao. La Galeria surge, en torno a 1950, como un proyecto personal de los hermanos José Antonio y Luis de Lerchundi y Sirotich, quienes concibieron la idea de crear una suerte de Museo iconográfico del territorio, preservando para la memoria futura su pasado más reciente, a través de la imagen de los hombres y mujeres descollantes en aquella época."

Crónica novelada. En el capítulo da cuenta del paso de Iparraguirre por Bilbao, y del impacto que tuvo en la sociedad vasca de la época. Contiene vívidas descripciones del personaje, acompañadas de las ilustraciones contemporáneas de Pancho Bringas. Hace un esbozo biográfico de Iparraguirre, en especial, de los años de juventud, y de su éxito como músico 'de la tierra'.
